Translation and subtitles
Voxdub supports translating the dialogue and showing subtitles, right in the editor.
Translate the band
The Translate toolbar tool translates the band into another language. Translation runs in the background: the target band will update when it's done. Track progress in the Tasks window (⌥ + T).
You can also start an automatic translation when creating the project (the Translate into every language option in the New project window).
Double-band mode
2 bands mode shows the source band above the translated band. Handy to compare the original and the translation line by line while adapting. You can adjust the split between the two bands and pick the source and target languages in the rythmo band settings.
Subtitles on the video
The Subtitles button on the playback bar shows or hides subtitles directly on the video. Their appearance (background, style) is set in the Appearance tab of the settings.
Where do subtitles come from?
At project creation, the automatic subtitle detection option transcribes the video's dialogue to pre-fill the band. Each dialogue line is then editable. To produce subtitle files (SRT, ASS, DETX…), see Export subtitles and a DETX file.
